LEADERSHIP

The Authentic Arc™

Helping leaders communicate with truth, presence & purpose.

Every important conversation is a performance.

Whether you're leading a company through change, pitching investors, delivering a keynote, speaking to your team, or navigating a difficult conversation, your audience is asking one question:

Do I believe you?

Most communication coaching begins with presentation skills.

How to structure your talk.

How to improve your slides.

How to project confidence.

Those things matter.

But they aren't where authentic communication begins.

Authentic communication begins with identity.

For nearly thirty years, I've spent my career studying what makes audiences believe a performance. As an Emmy®-nominated actor, filmmaker, educator, and host of The Actor's Director Podcast, I've worked with actors searching for truthful performances, directors learning to communicate more effectively, and storytellers discovering how to connect with an audience in moments that matter most.

Over time I realized something surprising.

The same principles actors use to create truthful performances can help leaders become more authentic communicators.

My work isn't about helping you become a better performer.

It's about helping you become someone people believe.

The Philosophy

I believe authentic communication is not created through better techniques.

It is created through greater self-awareness.

When we understand our story, clarify our purpose, and remove the physical tension that separates us from honest expression, confidence becomes a natural byproduct—not something we try to manufacture.

People rarely remember every fact you shared.

They remember whether they believed you.

The Authentic Arc™

A framework for communicating with truth, presence & purpose.

Every compelling character begins with four questions.

I believe every compelling leader should too.

STORY

Who are you?

Every communicator has a backstory.

Your leadership isn't built only from your résumé.

It's shaped by your experiences, your failures, your values, and the moments that changed the way you see the world.

Before we craft a presentation, we uncover the story that's already shaping your leadership.

Because people connect with people—not positions.

PURPOSE

What do you want?

In actor training we call this a Super Objective—the deeper purpose driving every action.

Great leaders don't simply deliver information.

They move people toward something meaningful.

Before we work on delivery, we identify what you truly want your audience to think, feel, and do.

When your purpose is clear, your communication becomes focused.

PRESENCE

What does truth sound like?

Truth isn't only heard.

It's seen.

It's felt.

Your body communicates before your words ever do.

A tense body creates a guarded message.

A restricted voice creates emotional distance.

Together we'll explore how a free and relaxed body, an authentic voice, and a grounded presence allow your message to emerge with honesty rather than performance.

Actors spend years learning how to remove what gets in the way of truthful expression.

Leaders can learn the same skill.

Because authenticity isn't something you perform.

It's something you uncover.

TRANSFORMATION

How are people different because they heard you?

Every great story changes someone.

Every great leader should too.

The purpose of communication isn't simply to transfer information.

It's to create movement.

Whether you're inspiring a team, pitching an idea, leading change, or speaking from a stage, the question isn't:

Did they understand me?

The question is:

Who are they because they met me today?

Together we'll refine not only what you say—but why anyone should believe it.

Why Me?

For nearly three decades I've worked at the intersection of storytelling, performance, and human connection.

As an Emmy®-nominated actor, I've spent my career learning how truthful performances are built from the inside out.

As a filmmaker and educator, I've helped actors and directors communicate more effectively under pressure.

As the host of The Actor's Director Podcast, I've interviewed acclaimed filmmakers about creativity, trust, collaboration, and the craft of communication.

Recent work includes portraying Abraham Lincoln in Doris Kearns Goodwin's Abraham Lincoln, an Emmy®-nominated performance in DARK/WEB: Rideshare, recurring on Good Trouble, and feature films including Ashes to Iron and Killing Hitler.

Across every role I've played, one question continues to guide me:

Why do we believe some people the moment they begin to speak?

That question has become the foundation of my work.

Let's Work Together

Whether you're preparing for a keynote, leading your organization through change, pitching investors, speaking to your team, or navigating a defining conversation, I'd love to help.

Because the goal isn't to sound more impressive.

It's to communicate more truthfully.

When communication is rooted in truth rather than performance, people don't simply hear your message.

They believe it.
